A Low Budget Christmas

Whoever determined that the day after Thanksgiving marks the start of the Christmas season I would like to meet and shake them into convulsions. Between listening to country holiday "classics" for my job throughout college to the lame ass smooth jazz covers of Christmas standards playing on repeat at Palisade these days I just can't get away! The Low Budget crew out of the DMV has dropped off a little something to help those of you like me who don't want to listen to your typical holiday music - bang this and I'm sure you won't be getting called a scrooge for turning off the radio.

Full of fresh tunes from the likes Kev Brown, Oddisee, Roddy Rod, Kambir & yU most of the cuts are just slow burning grooves that feature some sleigh bells at times or a melody from a traditional song flipped only how these cats do. Get in the holiday spirit and download this!

Meet Oliver Day Soul

One of my favorite voice of 2009 is finally dropping a project! After singing on both Hudson Mohawke and Dam Funk's records I was scratching my head wondering who this guy was and where his album was. Well the EP drops Friday and it's produced by the MO homie Oddisee! You know it's gonna be hot.

Oddisee continues on his journey to become your favorite producer's favorite producer with his latest free offering "West Coast Beats."

This is my favorite track of the bunch for reasons obvious to those that know me.

Oddisee x dj100proof - Travelling Man Remixes

In anticipation of the Oddisee headlining appearance at MEMBERS ONLY this Saturday and the Diamond District show at Chop Suey on Sunday I am releasing this 6 track remix ep featuring Oddisee beats from his 'Traveling Man' project.

Head over to my brand new Bandcamp Page to stream it and download it for FREE.

MEMBERS ONLY - 5/8

So the latest edition of the party that gave us our name features one of my favorite producers, and all around creative genius, Oddisee. Get hip. NOW.

Also on the bill we have the good homie Sol, who was featured on the SOTA record and has been steady on the come up for quite some time. Rounding it out we have the super production combo of OC Notes and Waystyles, who make up LeRoy. Live production sets that are pretty bonkers.

So you should pretty much know the drill by now. Ill Party + BYOB + Good Music = Members Only.

See you there.

DIAMOND DISTRICT

AKA "The Latest Edition of What You've Been Missin"

I you are not hip to the eastcoast slaps of my dude Oddisee then hang your good for nothing head in shame. I am not even stretching the truth when I state that he might just be the best producer on the mic since Dilla, and in the top 3 of my favorite producers doing it right now. He is an absolute beast.

If you still don't believe me, run over to his Bandcamp page and stream his latest offering Travelling Man. 24 tracks, each named after the city it was produced in, each fitting the unique vibe of that locale. Pretty much the dopest instrumental project in recent memory.

If that wasn't enough for you, he is coming HERE with his group Diamond District. May 8th, 9th and 10th to rock some shows (yes I said SHOWS) and will be rocking with us at Jet Set as well.
